My personal message:

Hi,

In October 2009 I was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukaemia. I am alive because of research carried out over the last 50 years. Developments made in the mid-90's mean that two years on I am still here to write this but a constant remission is not assured.

I will almost definitely relapse.

Research into mine and many other cancers can only continue with donations from people like you.

This year researchers have narrowed down my cancer to a single genetic fault. This is incredible news but we are a long way from a cure.

Every pound given will make a difference.

I am going to walk 26.2 miles through London at night and would be really grateful if you could spur me on with a pound or two.
